Pablo Juárez: El caminante (The Walker)

Pablo Juárez: El caminante (The Walker)

Pianist and composer, born in Rosario, Argentina, Pablo Juárez has addressed various genres and musical styles throughout his career, although always linked to popular roots, particularly those of folklore and jazz. The artist himself, who played with countless renowned musicians, has defined his own limits noting that he considers himself a close exponent of contemporary South American popular music. He has also been singled out as a pianist who inhabits the city, but whose music is impregnated with other geographies, particularly those related to the Paraná River.

Indeed, it is possible to appreciate Pablo Juárez's melodies as waters of that river, which never stand still and flow towards the sea, from where they are shown to the entire world. These musics, with a style sustained in South American folk rhythm and jazz, particularly in their harmonies and improvisations, express a mixture and an interesting confluence of very diverse influences that the musician knew how to combine in these pieces offered here. Three of them bring us closer to Juárez in a chamber format, on solo piano, a piano duet and in another duet with flute. A fourth piece, in the manner of a bonus, adds a sample already openly focused on jazz.
