Regressions / Dance Company of the UNA + Tropi Ensemble

The music of Regresiones (2017) was composed by the Argentine composer Facundo Negri for a flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, guitar and percussion ensemble, and is articulated with the choreographic work carried out by Federico Fontán and Ramiro Cortez. Regesiones responds to a commission made by the cycle "Dance on the Edge", developed by the Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires at the Teatro de la Ribera, in collaboration with the Dance Company of the Arts National University, under the direction from Roxana Grinstein. The other protagonist of the project is the Tropi Ensemble, directed by Haydée Schvartz, a stable instrumental group dedicated to the dissemination of chamber music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, which since its creation in 2008 has established itself as one of the Argentine assemblies of more prestigious contemporary music.

The idea of this sum of forces was to establish an area of experience in which choreographers and composers in residence could create works where dance and music were written in parallel during the entire creative process, and that said process was accompanied from the beginning by the interpreters for whom the works were written. In this way, the construction of a space that could contain an authentic and close dialogue between music and dance was encouraged. In this case, the audiovisual recording has also been carried out based on a minimalist idea: that of distracting the viewer's attention to the smallest degree possible, so that the entire video is made in a single continuous shot, practically without camera movement.
