Plácido Domingo Live at iTunes Festival

Plácido Domingo Live at iTunes Festival

The famed Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo was the star that closed the iTunes Festival 2014 at the Rondhouse Theatre in the District of Camden, in London. Plácido was accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic, the tenors Vitorio Grigolo and Jonathan Antoine, pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and he sang the encore song "Perhaps Love" with his son Plácido Domingo. A total of 16 songs that filled the night with voices in solos, duos and instrumental performances by the orchestra. Not only was the tenor the household name in charge of closing the event, but he also used his charm to serve as the master of ceremonies. "You think I will start with Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi or Puccini; but no, this aria belongs to a little-known composer, Umberto Giordano", said Domingo to the crowd and his millions of fans at the live festival. His set included several songs from the album of Mediterranean songs Encanto del Mar, one of them based in El concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo. Vitorio Grigolo sang an aria from the opera Tosca. Young Jonathan Antoine, known as the new Pavarotti, did La donna è Mobile and Volare and was applauded by Plácido Domingo himself. The concert seemed to be ending when the orchestra played La tabaquera from the opera Carmen and the tenor sang Granada, but the audience´s applause brought the highlight of the evening: Plácido Domingo's son joined his father on stage to close the festival.
